Mercury retrograde is already in full force. Formatting issues continue!!
Mind the gap...

The big event of August is the Solar Eclipse in Leo on August 21st. This total eclipse crosses over the middle of America and just happens to be exactly on Donald Trumps Rising sign of Leo (dramatic, arrogant, magnanimous, self centered) -  as well as the fixed star 'Regular' that marks his chart. I mostly avoid politics in this blog - if you want excellent political astrology go to Planet Waves with Eric Francis.   That said, this is too interesting not to mention. Regulus is the mark of a 'powerful leader and also of a precipitous fall.'

"One of the strange things about the fixed stars is that the forecast, although promising great success, is that success will be taken away or that you will be disgraced somehow. It seems the more the star contributed the more is taken away, or the more dishonest the person."

I'll let you make of that what you will. More on the leo Solar Eclipse next week.

Today's news is  that Mercury - planet of communication and thinking processes - is now in retrograde motion - moving from the sign of Virgo (which it rules) back into the sign of Leo. Interestingly, it will turn around to go direct (Sept 5th)  on the exact degree of the eclipse (and Regulus).

I have some thoughts on what that means, and the implications of the coming eclipse - especially for those of us with Pluto in late Leo - the 50's (the Me generation). Looks like big lessons on personal power and our relationship to both groups we interact with (Aquarius) as well as authority. The last two posts are about both Leo and Aquarius - more to come.

As far as Mercury retrograde: besides the usual crazy mix-ups and communication mayhem - Mercury retrogrades  turn our thought inward and ask us to reflect on what is going on in the house in which is passes through in our chart. (as always- see houses in tab above for descriptions of meanings of each house). Because Mercury is currently opposite Neptune, planet of drams and illusions - there is an even greater chance over the next three weeks for strange miscommunications, lost info and/or the passing of dubious information (more fake news!!)

Be extra careful re signing documents or making long term commitments at this time. Virgo is a sign of detail and discernment- use it well.  As Mercury reenters Leo at the end of August, we will be reflecting on the issues re Leo and Aquarius, as well as whatever fallout may be occurring from the eclipse.

Interestingly, someone I am very close to was considering a new job early in 2017 when a similar  Mercury/Neptune retrograde was going on. Although he is somewhat interested in Astrology, I would never dream of saying anything, but I was worried of some kind of dishonesty or misinformation screwing up his prospects. Several factors that occurred totally fit the profile - such as his having to keep the new job secret (from his current job because it was not for sure and he didn't want to make any announcements prematurely) . Although not entirely dishonest (Mercury Neptune can represent dishonesty) , it did involve an element of secrecy.  And after 7-8 months of hedging and back and forthing - nothing concrete has manifested (another Neptune trait) . Neptune dissolves and obfuscates and even more so when it is in Pisces as it is now. A good example of what can happen under these energies.

So do pay attention and don't let the current fiery and impatient energies of Mars/Sun/Leo push you to make decisions you would be best to delay-  or at least examine in great detail.

Mars is also moving toward a tense angle with Saturn, which also directs us toward greater caution in our actions and our day to day affairs. Frustration is a common side effect of Mars Saturn. Patience required.

Today -fiery Moon in Aries plus Mars (aggression/action) with Sun (vitality/ego) in Leo (pride/drama) may  be stirring up interpersonal strife.

  Use the LEAP technique:
Listen - (nonjudgementally. Including nonverbal cues.)
Empathize
Agree (agree - with what is valid, ie their feelings about the subject)
Partner - "what can/should we do?"
Don't panic, just talk it out.

If that doesn't work - Retreat. Walk away. Let it go.

You know you want to...
